Soldiers Denied Mental Health Care
Mental Health Counselors have more in depth training than social workers yet they are lobbied out of Medicare. These thousands of well qualified counselors are denied reimbursement for mental health services and thus must refuse to see soldiers and other needy patients who are on Medicare. How stupid is that?

Early Christmas Eve, the Senate passed H.R. 3590, its health care reform bill. H.R. 3590 lacks any provisions providing for LMHC Medicare eligibility. As the Senate bill is sent to the House for conference, AMHCA urges its membership to continue to push their legislators, in both the Senate and House, for inclusion of LMHC Medicare eligibility in the bodies' final health care reform product.
